I've been writing more regularly for a bit, and my goal for this year was to try and write every week. So far I have not been, instead focusing on some other aspects of my life to find a clear path for this year. For the last few months I have been thinking about the direction of my art, and this also included business and personal relationships as well. Not in just a passé manner, but I wanted to really figure out the things that were not meshing well with my life.

Life can hand you a rough deal at times, and isn't always fair. But, it is how you respond to these events in life that set your direction. Sometimes these things cannot be controlled, but there are other aspects in our life that we can. So, I have been focusing on the things that I can control to lessen the load life can sometimes pile on. I feel at times we hit these points in life and want to say something, do something, stand up for something, or want to just change direction. But, for some reason we tend to not act or keep putting the thoughts on hold.

I have felt this way before and will again in the future. My goal is to get better at recognizing these feelings and act faster each time while not repeating the same mistakes. At almost 40, I lean towards the light of life while remaining aware and respectful of the dark in life. This is what I have been projecting through my art since the beginning, but now I would like to push that a bit more. So my biggest goal for the year is to create a large body of work all on tree cross sections that express more intimate aspects of my life, values, philosophies, and what I love. All of the pieces below are examples from this body of work, and some are accounted for or are commissions.  But, each of them project something I believe in and value. My goal is to have 20 original pieces for the exhibit, and I am really looking forward to sharing my experience through the process with you.

Even though I will be working on this body of work, I will always create art for anyone that finds a connection to what I am doing. Last year was awesome working on commissions regularly, but I also want to get my art out to a wider audience as well. Thank you to everyone that is already sharing my work, it means more than you know. With that said if you enjoy, relate, or live some aspect of the art I create, please share the work and the message projected. Feel free to add your thoughts and explain our connection. It was one of the best ways for me to get real exposure, connect us more, and it allows others to connect as well. This is why I am creating art and it is beyond rewarding to find others who understand my goal.

Thank you for taking time to read this, and for riding along this journey with me. It is only starting...
