I am really looking forward to this Friday night and celebrating our final
event with all of you that can make it. There will be a lot of new art and Anne-Marie Sanderson has a beautiful sound. Yes, this is the last event in this space, but not the last art show or combined effort that I will be involved in the future with many of these artists. Unfortunately the lease is now up, and other life events happen and you make a choice. Koldshoulder has been the LLC for my art since starting and I will continue pursuing my art however possible. I didn't go through all of the surgeries to find this, not to go after it. So, What started as my first live/work space became a collective work space to also display art is now ending on a high note. A great party! Patrick and I will continue to work together and develop ideas in the future, and I will always assist other artists trying to get their art out there. But, for now I am going to take the winter, focus my resources and health towards making the best art I can for future shows while still being able to make commissions pieces for clients. If you want to buy a piece from an artist, donate to say thank you for the events or just to say thank you, please stop by to check out the art and meet the artists that created the pieces. Thank you and have a good night!

I want to thank everyone that purchased a ticket to RAW and attended the event or purc just to support my art. It was a fantastic experience! The show at Pancakes & Booze was a great time as well.

Before pursing her current Master's degree in Classical Chinese Medicine she attended Portland State University where she received her B.S in Organismal Biology. Avishan's art uses bold color and lines to portray dynamism, boldness and amusement in the ordinary. She has been painting since she was 8 years old. Avishan currently lives in Portland, OR where she is an independent swim coach, science tutor and a soon graduate of the National College of Natural Medicine in 2015. You can reach her by calling 503-914-9712. Please stop by to see the art created by Liz Von Hagen...
I have a hard time identifying what it is that I do. I have no intent, no aim to give a message, or portray an idea. I make art because it’s what I do. My process is one of experimentation and layering. It is often a long, slow, push and pull between my own actions and the will of the materials. I am always open to their suggestions. I can’t find any real regularity in my process. It seems to be different for every piece, and changes over time- as I often work on several pieces at once, one of which might be finished in a week and another might take a year. It is a thousand tiny step-by-steps that accumulate into a whole. I use a wide variety of typical and atypical materials, and a host of weird techniques I’ve developed. My process is one of very little self-discipline or planning. It is an utterly self-indulgent process. I follow whatever incites me. I paint in the abstract, but also frequently utilize imagery or include subject matter. I try to let subject matter come to me as it comes, if it comes. Sometimes there is an idea I am thinking about after all, though it is only realized after months of image obsession, and reflection on what just came out. |
