Thurmond, WV Station
9" x 12" acrylic on canvas panel
During the 1920's -1930's the mountains around Thurmond, WV were the epicenter of coal mining for most of the United States, and the C & O Railroad carried the coal from the east coast to the central plains. It was a short amount of time, and only little pieces still show history of what transpired here. The Amtrak stops here only 3 days a week, and you might be the only person to get on or off.
